Biography

John E. Norton, the Senior Partner in the Law Firm of Norton, Mancini & Weiler has been an active trial lawyer for over 33 years. He has tried cases in the state and federal courts throughout Chicago, the collar counties and northern Illinois. He has litigated thousands of cases in the areas of professional negligence, personal injury and civil rights at both the trial and appellate levels including the Supreme Court of Illinois and the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

In recognition of John’s experience and expertise as a trial lawyer, he has been elected to membership in the Society of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) which are invitation-only bodies comprised of the most experienced and renowned trial lawyers in the country.

Long involved in continuing professional education from the perspective of an author and lecturer, he has contributed to practice handbooks and lectured to attorneys under the auspices of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. As well, he has presented lectures and continuing education programs before local and national medical, nursing and hospital associations on the subject of medical malpractice.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1971, and graduated from the DePaul University College of Law in 1975. In 2005 he obtained a Certificate in Mediation Skills from Northwestern University, and is a court-certified and appointed mediator and arbitrator in DuPage County and Kane County, Illinois.

His current practice involves complex litigation and catastrophic injury cases which he handles from both our Chicago and Wheaton offices. In addition to his busy and varied practice, John has been active in the civic and professional communities of the greater Chicagoland area. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the DuPage County Bar Association and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.

John and his wife, Ellen, are the parents of four children and reside in Downers Grove, Illinois.
